“Safeguard your homes from holiday burglars”

As this is the time of year that many of you may be going on holidays – thoughts about packing suitcases, getting foreign currencies and buying your last minute items may be consuming your mind! However, your first priority should be to ensure that your house is well secured before leaving.

According to the PSNI there were 6638 burglaries in Northern Ireland from April 2007 to March 2008.

You should ask your neighbours to keep an eye on your property and if possible ask them to move your mail out of eyesight (as thieves generally have a look through letter boxes).

Many people tend to leave the keys in their key operated window locks. From a security and insurance point of view they should be removed at all times.
