Like other parts of the UK, dentists in Northern Ireland are struggling to provide modern, preventive care in an under-funded state system, where it seems that number crunching is more important than clinical care. Morale is at an all time low and access to dental practices, as described by the BDA, is ‘chronic’.

Not good news for patients nor employers, who could potentially experience an increase in absenteeism as employees seek time off to attend dental appointments far from the work place or worse still, time off for potential emergency treatment as a result of neglecting their teeth or simply not being able to afford private care.
